Every student preparing for SPM, UEC or O-Levels knows the problem: you write an essay, hand it in, and wait a week for feedback. By the time it comes back, you have forgotten what you were thinking. Ask a chatbot instead, and it tells you your essay is “quite good”, then rewrites it for you. Neither helps you get a better grade on exam day.

Today we are introducing Minimo Essay, an AI essay marker built for Malaysian and Singaporean exam papers. Type or scan your essay and get examiner-grade feedback in under a minute: a predicted grade, red-pen corrections, and a coach that makes you fix your own mistakes.

πŸ“ Marked Against the Real Exam Rubrics

Most AI tools use one generic model to guess at quality. Minimo Essay is calibrated to each syllabus, with its own band descriptors, format checklists and penalty rules. Spelling and grammar penalties are applied and capped per essay, the way examiners do it. SPM is marked against CEFR, and SEAB papers against SEAB’s own bands.

Supported papers include:

  • Malaysia: SPM 1119 English, SPM εŽζ–‡ 6351, MUET Writing 800/4, STPM εŽζ–‡ 920, UEC ι«˜δΈεŽζ–‡, εˆδΈη»Ÿθ€ƒεŽζ–‡, Senior UEC English, and primary UASA English and εŽε°εŽζ–‡
  • Singapore: PSLE English and εŽζ–‡, O-Level English 1128, O-Level εŽζ–‡ 1160 and ι«˜ηΊ§εŽζ–‡ 1116, A-Level General Paper 8807, H2 Knowledge & Inquiry, H1 εŽζ–‡ and H2 εŽζ–‡δΈŽζ–‡ε¦

The whole app works in both English and Chinese.

⚑ How It Works

1. Submit your essay

Type it in, upload a PDF, or snap a photo of your handwritten script. Grid paper is detected automatically, and crossed-out words are left out of the marking.

2. Four examiners mark it at once

Your essay is read by four specialist markers running in parallel:

  • Structure & format inspector: checks organisation and format requirements
  • Language & lexical auditor: finds grammar, spelling and word-choice errors
  • Grade calibrator & penalty deductor: applies the rubric and penalty rules
  • Coach & exemplar matcher: prepares your hints and sample answers

You get a predicted grade with a breakdown for each rubric area. You can close the app while it marks, and you will be notified when your results are ready.

3. Fix it yourself

This is where Minimo Essay is different. Instead of handing you a rewrite, it coaches you to correct your own mistakes, because that is what actually improves your grade.

πŸ–οΈ A Coach, Not Just a Grader

Red-pen coach

Each lost mark comes with three hint levels that unlock one at a time: first what is wrong, then more guidance, and only at the end a full model rewrite. You write the fix yourself, and the coach checks it.

Micro-drills

Your own recurring mistakes are turned into a two-minute quiz. They are built from your errors, not a generic worksheet.

Before / after comparison

See exactly how many marks your rewrite earned you, mark by mark.

Exemplar vault

Read A-grade scripts matched to your essay prompt, with PEEL (Point, Evidence, Explain, Link) breakdowns so you can see why they scored well.

πŸ“ˆ Track Your Progress Across Every Essay

A chat thread forgets you the moment you close it. In Minimo Essay, every essay feeds one profile.

  • Diagnostic archive: a five-area profile plus a heatmap of the mistakes that keep coming back, for example verb tense errors appearing in 9 of your last 14 essays
  • Predicted grade tracking: see which way your grade is moving and how many marks you need to reach the next band
  • Parent access: parents can link a read-only account to follow progress, and students stay in control of what is shared

🏫 Coming Soon for Teachers and Tuition Centres

A tuition centre plan is on the way. It will let teachers upload up to 50 scripts per batch and come back to a graded class list, with a grade spread, the weaknesses the class shares, a comment bank, and branded PDF marking slips to hand back.

πŸ’° Pricing

Start with 2 free essays, no card required, then a 7-day free trial on either paid plan.
